Making Hedwig - Harry Potter's Owl

This week we have been making pompom owls.  Harry Potter had an owl called Hedwig to deliver his letters.  We have made our own owls to deliver our mail for us.

The Secret Panel.

After creating all our wood panelling wall we decided that we must have a Secret Panel.  We each had to imagine what might lie behind the secret panel.  We came up with some exciting ideas such as a treasure chest, a key, a book of spells, an ancient map and many more.  

We wrote an imaginative piece of writing with illustrations and a description about what lay behind the panel, how it got there and what you could do with it if you found it.

Primary 5

Class of 2014 -2015

We have made a fantastic start to the new school year in Primary 5.  Our first topic is Castles linked also to our novel study of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' by J.K. Rowling.

We have begun work on transforming our P5 classroom into The Great Hall at Hogwart's and it is looking amazing.  

Wood panelling and Fire Place in the Great Hall. 

 The first thing we did was to create a wood panelling effect for the walls.  We each painted a couple of panels using brown paint on brown sugar paper and then used darker brown to create the wood grain patterns.  We then used black pens and charcoal to add more detail.

We actually managed to find a fire place under the stage which was handy.  We spruced it up and bit and added some more paint.

It makes our cozy book corner look very welcoming.
