We are really busy in Primary 5 this session! In Maths, we have been working on Information Handling, using tally charts and frequency tables to collect and interpret data. We have recently started swimming lessons at Dalry swim centre and we are all making good progress so far. We have also been working on planning and preparing for our Victorian Museum for the showcase day on Friday 29th November.

Our trip to the Victorian schoolroom was really great and we all learned a lot about life in Scottish schools and homes at the time of Queen Victoria. One of our favourite things was trying to write using split nib pens and ink - it was really tricky! We hope to show some of the things we have learned at the Museum and we hope you will be able to come along and see us then.

Our Classroom

Here are a few photos of our classroom, to give you an idea of some of the work we have been doing.

We each made our own individual shield to show things that we like, and things which are important to us.

We have also been finding out what we know about the Victorians, and making some questions that we want to find the answers to. We have started finding out what schools were like at the time of Queen Victoria.

Welcome to Primary 5's blog! We are enjoying being back at school and are excited about finding out more about this term's topic, the Victorians. At the moment we are focusing on learning about what life was like for children, and we are planning a trip to the Victorian schoolroom in Leith in the near future. In Art, we are learning about drawing faces and using shading to make them more realistic. We hope to post some pictures of our work very soon!
